'Tis Meself

*waves profusely*  Hello, fellow person!  I'm ridiculously thrilled you're here.

I suppose you'll be wanting to know a bit more about me?  All righty, then.

First and foremost, I'm a nondenominational Christian, stumbling ineptly through life with a very, very patient Guide.  When I am faithless, "He remains faithful."  When I am cowardly, He is valiant.  When I am bitter, He is long-suffering.

I'm a story-girl, through and through.  I'm a bibliophile, a musician (ish), and a movie and television nerd.   The Princess Bride by William Goldman and Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott are tied for my (current) favorite book, and then there are the works of C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Elizabeth Gaskell, Edith Wharton, Catherine Marshall, P.G. Wodehouse, and Louisa May Alcott to consider.

The two TV shows I really, really love are Leverage and BBC Robin Hood.  Just…hearts, hearts and butterflies and sparkles and all things perfect, forever and ever <3  Those are the two main ones, but there are many others I enjoy in more moderation.

And movies…sheesh, I don't even know where to start.  This is the story category that really does stump me when I'm asked which my favorite is.  (Was that sentence grammatically legitimate?)  With books, TV, and music, I could tell you who/what my favorites were, after a bit of thinking.  But with movies?  I seriously don't know.  I tend to get into and like whatever movie it is I'm watching, so there have been very few movies I've disliked.  From Broken Trail to Sense and Sensibility, from Star Wars to Belle, from The Swan Princess to The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, from The Philadelphia Story to Far and Away, from Mirror Mirror to The Aristocats, from August Rush to The Lord of the Rings, I just really like movies.  I love old films, particularly classic Westerns with John Wayne, hilarious comedies with Cary Grant, or obscure 50s musicals with Howard Keel :)  I also have a passion for underrated 90s Disney movies (The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Pocahontas for the win!).

As far as music goes, I play the piano and sing in a choir, and I'd like to try dabbling in guitar, flute, and voice lessons sometime.  My favorite genres to listen to are movie/musical soundtracks, folk ballads, Celtic/Gaelic, some indie, some just plain random things, and the occasional pop/rock tune.
When I'm not busy with school work or one of the aforementioned modes of story consumption, I enjoy crocheting, bookmark-making, and beach-combing.

That, in a nutshell, is me :)  I hope you're encouraged by my posts and that my blog brings a smile to your face!

  1. AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! Hi. I found your blog through your comment on mine, and long story short, I love it. I believe I have found a kindred spirit here. :) Your writing style is unique and, in a word, ideal. (Shush, I know that didn't exactly make sense, but I had to say it). This blog, I like it! Another! Ahem. Sorry. And you like classic literature and piano and singing and Les Mis and Phantom and Tolkien (of course), and *whispers* you didn't like the LOTR movies the first time around. I have a fellow skeptic-turned-fanatic! Anyway, I will be stalking your archives and looking for new posts with great anticipation!!!!! *dances with glee*

    Blessings,
    Reyna

My name is Livy (yup, another Olivia lol) and I'm the founder of an online magazine for Christian girls called Crown of Beauty. (www.crownofbeautymagazine.com)
I'm getting ready to release a brand new novel called The Coronation and I'm planning a Blog Tour with my fellow sisters in Christ! Would you be interested in being a part of this? Post ideas include doing a review, an author interview, a giveaway, or even something fun and unique like a character interview!
If you're interested in learning more about this, The Coronation, and what it would look like to be involved, send me an email!(crownofbeautymagazine@yahoo.com) I would loovvvvee to hear back from you! <3

    1. Livy, oh my goodness, I'm SOOOOO sorry I never replied to this. The Coronation looks really interesting and I hope I get to read it someday soon! I don't know if you're still doing the blog tour or how good I'd be at actually doing a post once I finished reading it, though. :-/ But I've seen some Goodreads friends' reviews of the book, and it has certainly caught my eye. ;) Also, I hope to check out your online magazine soon! It's so cool that you founded that.

Again, I'm SOOOOOOO sorry this reply is so late; I really, really, really appreciated this comment. :) (And yay, name twins!! Haha. :D)

Best of luck with The Coronation and the magazine, and blessings! <3
