"Bertie…it is young men like you who make a person with the future of the race at heart despair."

Sooooo.

Remember how I made all those great promises I apparently didn't intend to keep about posting and commenting and all that?  'Hem, yes, well, it appears that I really oughtn't do that, since I seem to be so incapable of seeing it through.  It appears I wasn't thinking about the fact that I was going to have four teeth cut out of my head on the 29th, which did happen, and from which I am still recovering.  (Seriously.  Wisdom teeth.  JUST WHY?!?!?!)  I can hardly describe to you all the sheer thrill of both you and your mom having to get up at unholy hours of the wee sma's so you can take medicine.  ("So, you're waking me up to give me medicine to help me sleep."  Thank you, Wilby, for having a quote for everything.)

But I'm getting there…slowly…with the help of Disney, solitaire, Youtube, and various other film delicacies, like Legally BlondeBringing Up Baby, We Bought a Zoo and Hidalgo.  I also persuaded my parents to rent the 2015 Cinderella so I could watch it again, so apparently there are advantages to this kind of barbarism that orthodontia requires.

Sob story of my trials aside, I don't know how many of the reviews I suggested I might write will actually happen.  And I know you are all lovely, patient, kindly faithful followers, so you'll doubtless tell me not to worry about it, but I do apologize for my habit of making quasi-promises about reviews--or, for that matter, posts in general--and not keeping them.  Seriously, it means a lot that through my nonsensical madness you guys still put up with me and interact with me :')

So Happy New Year, my dear beloved bloggie buddies!  Here's to 2016--may we all grow closer to our Lord and Savior and to each other.

I'm really getting excited for Heidi's Cinderella Week!  I've got a couple posts done, and I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone will turn out :D

GUYS.  I got an Andy Griffith CD I wanted in my stocking!  An Andy Griffith CD of him singing hymns, for crying out loud!  YES I DID AND IT IS FABULOUS.  I listened to it this morning and it makes me oodles-of-happy.

The Lord is amazing, you guys know that?  Well, see that you don't forget it, even when it's tempting.

So that's more or less…that…oh, wait!  I remember another thing I wanted to tell you:  the Bookshelf Project is now officially over.  I know, I KNOW, I had just one more shelf and I probably should have stuck it out, but with the exception of a Jeeves and Wooster "omnibus" and Lorna Doone (both of which I'll probably read eventually anyway), none of the five books on the shelf were classics, so I don't really feel too bad not completing it.  Start the new year with a clean slate, what.  I'm now inching my way through Anna Karenina…not sure how long this attempt will last ;)

I LOVE YOU GUYS.  Apologies about the short, rambling nature of this little explanatory post…I'm on three medications, so thusly my body has been enduring a veritable flooding of unusual drugs, and if I'm not dreadfully lucid, I'll blame it on that.  Go watch The Hunchback of Notre Dame, y vaya con Dios!

    3. It's just a Cinderella picture I found on Pinterest...I'm assuming it's from one of the character actresses in Disney World or Disney Land?

Aww, thanks so much! I'm so glad you like it :D

    2. Well I was actually just quoting the movie period. Someone said something about being outrageous, so I was quoting that, then some of my little siblings couldn't remember how that part went so I backed up and repeated from 'waking me up' to the 'Good Day' part outside the Pump Room. And then on NYE we watched the 2005 Lassie, and it takes place in Yorkshire right, well then of course we were quoting, "Where does this bloody terrier spring from?" "I believe he's a Yorkshire Terrier, My Lord."

    3. Ohhhhhhh, I see. It's such a quotable movie, no? ;)

  3. Ouch! So sorry to hear about your wisdom teeth being yanked out of your head. My sister had that done last December, but I think the Lord of the Rings marathon we held definitely helped. :)

I look forward to a new year filled with lovely Olivia posts!

  7. Four teeth yanked out of your head?!! Yikes! I've not even GOT my wisdom teeth IN yet. I hope I don't have to have them OUT :P I do know what you mean though - I am trying to recover myself from a bad 'flu that included earache and eye infection, to my chagrin :P Youtube helps a lot.

But you got to watch Cinderella 2015 again? That's so cool! I would love to watch it . . . I've seen clips and Cinderella and Kit are darling :)

Andy Griffiths singing hymns? Sounds great! I love stockings :) My favorite present that I got was a REAL HONEST-TO-GOODNESS TANGLED DVD. I am so happy!!!!! I haven't watched yet because I want to wait until I can properly enjoy it - you know, actually laugh. No weak chuckles, Jeeves - it wouldn't be right :P

Yes! Oh, Rosie, you'd love it. T'is so SPARKLY and SWEET and GOOD.

  9. Wisdom teeth not so wise eh? If they were truly wise, they would decide not to come in until they were sure one's mouth was big enough to hold them. I remember when I had mine out, my face swelled up so ridiculously big the second day, but LotR works wonders. That, and ice cream. Hope you're back to normal in no time! :D

  10. I'm so sorry about your wisdom teeth . . . I've never had to have mine out (thank goodness) but, with this horrid nasty flu, I can DEFINITELY sympathize on the "not feeling so hot" front!

Yes, Youtube has helped me SOOOOOOOOOOO much in various Stressful and Unpleasant Situations over the past few years. Specially "behind-the-scenes" Newsies videos--they're hilarious. And cute. And just all-around-amazing. Oh, and Celtic Thunder . . . did I mention Celtic Thunder? I seriously wonder where on earth I would be without those guys.

Don't worry about the movie reviews--really! I love all your posts, honest. Especially with the crazy-awesome titles you always come up with. "Bertie, it is young men like you who make people with the future of the race at heart despair." MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Oh--a Bertie-and-Jeeves omnibus? I wonder if it's the same one we have at our library? If it is, it's one of my favorite books ever :-)

    1. Thanks :( Yes! Praying for your full recovery, my friend! :)

YouTube…siiiiiigh. Celtic Thunder is pretty darn epic.

AWW THANK YOUUUUU! That means a lot, Jessica :) (Haha, isn't that quote awesome?!)

I dunno! It contains a bunch of the short stories, and then a couple of the full length ones, such as Joy in the Morning.

      Delete
    2. Thanks so much!! (And I'll be praying for YOU to feel better also!)

Yesh. Epic is the word, my friend.

Oh--okay, so it's not the same one that we have at our library. Ours is just all the short stories and none of the novels. But it doesn't really matter--ANY Wodehouse is good Wodehouse :-)

Do you have a favorite Jeeves story/novel, by the way? Just wondering. I'm not sure about my favorite short story, but my favorite novel is definitely "Thank You, Jeeves." I just LOVE the whole boot-polish-and-butter thing. (Okay, that sounded really gross--hope nobody reading this gets the wrong idea ;) )

Ahh! Yes, I agree: Wodehouse is always a good idea, as the saying is ;)

I don't know yet! I have trouble keeping track of them, hehe. And I don't think I've read them all yet...I know I really enjoyed the short story about Bertie's uncle wanting to marry...the title has Indian Summer somewhere in it...?

  13. Ha ha HA. Wodehouse ever and always. ;D And I'm so sorry to hear about your teeth. (I mean, I know... a necessary part of life and all that, but still... awful.) Seriously though, dear, your writing is utterly delightful, buoyant and lovely. And YEESS, don't feel badly about not posting. ;) And I'm so thrilled you're excited about Cinderella!!

(P.S. My brother actually went in to the dentist for the same thing on Christmas Eve and I showed him your post this morning. He thoroughly enjoyed it. :))

  14. Indeed, Wodehouse forever ;D Thanks! Oh! Thank you so much! That made my day :) (I cannot WAIT for Cinderella Week. I'm getting antsy, I am.)

  15. Happy New Year, Olivia! I was just thinking about you today and wondering how you were since we hadn't heard from you in while. You poor dear. Having your wisdom teeth taken out just after Christmas? How awful! I'm glad you had some good movies to get you through the pain! ;) (That quote from Amazing Grace was perfect, by the way! I love it when a quote fits the situation so completely.)

Oh my! Don't feel bad if you don't do all the posts you talked about doing. There are so many ideas, it's impossible to find time to do all of them.

By the by, I liked this "short, rambling, explanatory" post! Your ramblings are delightful--even with medication! ;) Rest and get well, Olivia! I hope this year proves to be a VERY happy one for you!

  16. Happy New Year! Ugh, wisdom teeth are no fun. I remember having mine out, and also my brother having his out. I showed him the whole Mummy trilogy for the first time and he says it was really surreal on pain meds. Hee! Hope this is the worst thing that will happen to you for a long time :-)

    1. Happy New Year! Haha, the whole Mummy trilogy? I haven't seen them yet, though I mean to eventually, but I bet it'd be surreal with all the drugs involved in the surgery xD Aww, thanks! You're so kind :)

  17. Oh, I'm sorry! The other day, I was just contemplating wisdom teeth and how little I'd appreciate the removal thereof. :/ I have braces now, and I like the way they look and choosing the colors, but the appointments which interrupt my mornings, and the people crowding around me to peer between my jaws... *shivers*

Anyways, Happy New Years! I hope everything goes well in the transition back into school. No fun, either;)

Oh, and I like your first gif. If only I had access to that show(it's from Robin Hood, right?)...

    1. Thanks, Meredith :-/ Braces are TOUGH. But it will get better, I promises :)

      Same to you! Yeah…school…

Hehe, thank ya ;) Yes, it's from RH! Ohhhh, I wish you had access to it too! It's SO frustrating when there's something you REALLY want to watch but you just cannot find it anywhere. I hope you can get to it eventually! I think YouTube has a couple of full episodes, but I doubt it has the whole show, and yeah, if you can't get it on Netflix or WatchSeries (the latter of which has some undesirable advertisements), I dunno what to do :( But I hope you find it, because THAT SHOW. It will forever change your life and leave you reduced to a pile of desolate ashes, but it's WORTH IT :p

    2. Well I did just find out that our library has Season Two, but I can't find Season One. Would it be worth it to start in the middle like that? I could also check Blockbuster...

      Delete
    3. Oh, that's something...but I might say no, actually. See, S2 picks up pretty much right where S1 left off, and it'd be a bit difficult to pick up on everything and untangle all the complicate relationships like that. I'm assuming, that is. Yeah, maybe try Blockbuster? If the worst comes to the worst, you COULD just look up a synopsis of the first season online, and then start with the second.

      Delete
    4. So we just stopped by Blockbuster recently...and...Robin Hood was there!!!!

I'll tell you what I think as soon as I get a chance to watch it. :D

    5. AHHHHH! Definitely tell me what you think of it, Meredith! (But be prepared for FEELS.)

      Delete
    6. Oh, and just so you know, the first couple of episodes are rather mediocre (not to mention a couple...odd parts). You just have to make it past that, and then IT'S FABULOUD.

  18. Oh you poor dear. :( Wisdom teeth are nasty things indeed. As a matter of fact, I'll be having X rays this month to figure out when I'll get my four ones out. :/ (I'm only fifteen! I have to have mine out early...although we will probably wait for another year or to.) One of my sisters is having hers out this month too! Just treat yourself to lots of movies and ice cream. :D We Bought a Zoo, Hidalgo and Cinderella sound like some excellent treatments though. ;)
    Happy New Year, Olivia! :)
