A Shout-out Post
A "recent favorites" post, if you will. ;D (My post introductions have been so concise lately; I should be so proud of myself.)
Posts you should read
Posts you should read
- Abby's "Why We Read" post
- Catherine's "Classic Movies starter pack" post
- Most anything on Kate Conner's blog (I mean, I might not agree with absolutely everything she says, but she writes in a very raw, accessible, GOOD way, and there's something inspiring about reading her posts.)
Books you should read
- The Chronicles of Narnia series (Am I right, Abby? ;))
- The Lord of the Rings trilogy
Guys, I'm sort of-ish/off and on re-reading both of these, and the C. of N. is SO MUCH MORE AMAZING THAN I REMEMBERED, and as for LotR . . .
Well, all's I can say is that I'm mulling over the thought that LotR may actually be the most beautiful book(s) I've ever read. Ever. Seriously, I don't know if I've ever come across -- or heard of -- another book that has such achingly, piercingly beautiful writing. I mean, it's not like they're really all that long (I mean, they're not short, but they're not Les Mis or Anna Karenina, either. You understand me.), but they're so dense, because the writing is legitimately so exquisite and deep that you have to be able to take the time to really pore over each sentence in order to get the full beauty out of it. :)
I JUST LOVE THEM SO MUCH AAAAGHHH. *tackles them*
Bible books you should read *
- Isaiah
- Galatians
- Psalms
* I mean, ALL of the Bible is good. Obviously. And y'all should be reading wherever God directs you. So like I'm not saying that these are better than any other books, but they are some that I get a lot out of. So.
Movies you should watch
- Balto
FAM?! Fam. W.o.w.
# That moment when you re-watch a childhood movie for the first time in ages and you're just like *all the starry eyes*
- Barbie movies, for reasons
- Sense and Sensibility (2008)
- The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (the Ben Stiller one)
- Les Miserables
- And Disney, always Disney <3
YouTubers you should watch
- Katie Gregoire (kind of my favorite thing)
- Emily Wilson
- Sadie Robertson (I actually haven't watched much of her videos at all, but I started one of her messages recently and it was really good, so I want to see more)
* NOTE: I may not agree with/endorse everything in all of these ladies' videos; I haven't seen all of them, so I don't know. :-P
Food you should eat
- Domino's pizza (because it is the best, forever and ever amen)
- Fruit (because it's also the best)
- Chips & salsa [because #yayunhealthy (I mean, that's not too unhealthy)]
- Steamed "Power Greens" [They sell "Power Greens" at Costco and they're quite excellent steamed. Especially with scrambled eggs. (Trust me on this, people.)]
Stuff you should listen to
- Norah Jones
- the Bandstand soundtrack
- Basically just musicals in general
- the Romeo & Juliet (2013) soundtrack (always)
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Okay, that's enough for now. :) Have a fantastic, blessed week, people! *hugs you all*
P.S. Also, I'M SO SORRY FOR MY CHRONIC LACK OF COMMENT REPLIES. *tears* I don't even know, guys. But thank you all so much for always commenting, even though I'm so terrible at replying in a timely way. I TRULY DO APPRECIATE EACH AND EVERY COMMENT, honest to goodness. Like, seriously, they make my day/morning/afternoon/evening every single time. SO THANKS. <3
Ooohh, dis post is GOOD. :D *rubs hands*
ReplyDeleteI really should be doing one of the 1398798739823 things on my to-do list, so I'm going to have to keep it a little shorter than I'd like. :/
KAITE GREGOIRE. <3 And oh my gosh, that is SO coincidental!!! I JUST discovered Sadie Robertson (I watched her "a message to fellow college age friends", and it really moved me) and now I'm keen to watch more of hers. Also, she was on dancing with the stars, and I watched all her dances she did and I was a little jealous because it looks like SO much fun and she was such a good dancer. :D
DOMINO'S PIZZA YESSSS
O_O YOU PUT BANDSTAND ON THE LIST!!!! AHHHH!!!! *FREAKS OUT* I'VE BEEN SO STOKED ABOUT BANDSTAND. LIKE, I LITERALLY PRE-ORDERED THE CD AND BOUGHT IT WITH THE LAST OF MY POCKET MONEY BECAUSE LAURA OSNES AND COREY COTT!! <3 <3 <3 And then I've been listening to it so much and basically singing all the songs and following (stalking?) them on Instagram and telling peoples about it and I am so sad that they are closing so soon. :( :(
Gabby!!!! =D Hullo!
DeleteAgh, you have revealed zee name! :D
DeleteHaha, same, girl. Your comment was a lovely length, never fear! ;)
OH MY GOSH GABBY WE ARE BASICALLY TWINS. I just discovered Sadie Robertson the same way (I mean, I knew who she was and all, and I'd watched one of her other YouTube videos, but I recently DISCOVERED discovered her, if you know what I mean ;))!!! I haven't watched all of her "message to fellow college age friends" yet, but I was super impressed with what I did see of it and want to finish it soon. :) And oh my word, I just found out about her being on DWTS, too! I know, she was so good! Like, what?! The foxtrot was probably my favorite, so far. :)
RIGHT
AAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!! You know Bandstand, too?!?! OH MY GOSH GIRL THAT'S THE WAY TO DO IT! I have four of the songs on my iPod, and I'm currently trying to chip away at the whole soundtrack as I type. :) (ALSO, fun musical news. You're into Newsies, right? WELL. I was just able to watch the summer encore of the reunion live filmed stage version they did back in February here in the USA, and OHHHHHHH MY HEAVENS ABOVE ASDGKLHASDKGJLKJGSDFJKMABSDGJKL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I loved it. I AM NOW A FANSIE. That is, I don't know that I'd like a DIFFERENT production of the show as much as I loved this one, if you know what I mean, but I am a DIEHARD fan of this particular version now. :))
Yes!! (Haha, yep, basically twins!) Her "message to college age friends" was amazing... I may not have agreed with absolutely everything she said, but I came away so inspired, joyful and more Jesus-focused, it really was a wonderful thing. <3
DeleteI went and watched a video that compiled all her dances into one, and wow... yeah, I was impressed. :D My favourite is probably the Quickstep (dancing to "Problem"). I don't know why, but I REALLY want to learn that choreography, haha. xD (Btw, have you ever heard of Bindi Irwin? She was on DWTS last year - actually won it (with Derek Hough... I rather like him :P) and she's an Aussie. She's a big name in Australia (and Steve, Terri and Robert). I love Bindi's personality as well. ANYWAYS. Rambling! I just recently have had a bit of an obsession with DWTS and dancing in general lately... *siiigh*)
YES OF COURSE I KNOW BANDSTAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D I love it!!! <3 <3 <3 Not perfect, a little rough around the edges, but I love it.
YES I'M INTO NEWSIES!!!! YAYAYAYAYAY YOU'RE A FANSIE!!!!!!!!!!!! *twirls you around in a happy dance* I'm so glad you love it now too! I haven't actually seen the film yet, but I've seen a recording of the production on Broadway, and I've heard the soundtrack of the original cast recording an infinity of times, and I kinda sorta likea just love it in general, y'know? I hope to watch it soon!!! (Time is honestly slipping away from me SO FAST these days!)
Haha! <3 Oh, good! I'm so glad to learn that it continued to be good. :D I'll definitely have to finish it sometime! I've only seen a few minutes, but the story about the plankton was like !!!!! *mind = blown* !!!!!
DeleteAahh, I went back and saw some of her other dances, and I really liked the Quickstep, too! She and Mark Ballas seem to have the most adorable buddy relationship. :) I also really liked their dance about Adam and Eve, the one to "Shine Bright Like a Diamond" (or whatever that song is), and just mainly alls of the them. :)
I haven't heard of Bindi Irwin, but I should look her up! I saw Sadie's Charleston dance with Derek Hough (yes, he seemed nice ;)), so I'm sure I'd like Bindi and Derek, too! (I mean, hey, that's excusable. Dancing is pretty fab, even if I don't know how to do it, haha. We can still appreciate it. :D)
Totally agree about Bandstand. :) I'm not the hugest fan of ALL of the songs, but there are around five that I really love. (AND ALSO COREY COTT SEEMS LEGIT ADORABLE.)
YES!! YES, I AM!! *cavorts happily with you in the happy dance* Oh, sorry, I probably worded that in a confusing way. I haven't seen the original film (with Christian Bale) yet, either, but they recently filmed a revival of the stage version with the original Broadway cast (Jeremy Jordan, Kara Lindsay, etc.), and that's the one I've seen. Is that the one you've seen? Or a different one?
(I know, time can fly by so quickly!!!)
Oh, well I'll definitely recommend a particular dance for Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough (my absolute favourite of theirs). She was only 17 when she entered, too. But ANYWAYS. THIS one is THE BEEEST: : https://youtu.be/ywIN0DYOdUI And if you want the backstory to why it's incredibly emotional, here is a video of it: https://youtu.be/ghBYajKa5SY (Her dad died when she was about 8 - it was SUCH a terribly sad event. :( He swam over a stingray and got stabbed. (It's very unusual for a stingray to attack people.) It was so awful.)
DeleteCOREY COTT IS INCREDIBLY ADORABLE. <3
No, I get you! That's what I meant, haha. :D (*I* wrote mine in a confusing way, heh. :P) I have seen and own the Christian Bale movie (I love it!), but I have yet to see the filmed stage version one with the original cast (the one you saw)!
OH MY GOSH, GABBY. THAT DANCE. Wow. Whew! That'll almost make you cry! W.O.W. That was beautiful and heartbreaking and cathartic. :") Thanks so much for the links! I hadn't realized her dad was the Crocodile Hunter. Wow.
DeleteYES HE IS. <3
Haha ok, cool! I've heard Great Things about the Christian Bale film. ;) Aaaaggghhh, the filmed stage version is amaziiiiiiing, gahh. <3
I can say an absolute YES to the Lord of the Rings books. How amazing and beautiful and rich and heartbreaking are they?! They just pierce my heart so, as Lewis would describe it! :)
ReplyDeleteJoy, RIIIIIIIGHT?!?! Like, how. I KNOW, Lewis's thoughts on them are basically spot-on (like most of what he said *ahem*). :)
DeleteYay another Oliva post!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAww you mentioned my post. Thank you my dear! I'm so honoured *insert blushing emoji*
NARNIA ALL THE YES. I'm constantly blown away by them. Constantly. That's gonna be my new catchphrase for Narnia: Constantly blown away.
I promise you that someday I will finish the entire LOTR series. Someday. I just haven't yet.
The Psalms are mind numbingly beautiful. And Isaiah is so profound. End of story.
I've never watched any Barbie movies to be honest. My parents had a thing against Barbie and so she's been Non Existent in my life ;) But the Secret Life of Walter Mitty is actually one of the most incredible movies I've seen. Like it made me want to laugh and cry and just breathe in the beauty of life and what it is to be alive. Ugh. So good. Also that soundtrack is to die for.
I love Sadie Robertson so much!!! She is so incredible.
Pizza: hallelujah praise the Lord. I love it. Also fruit is amazing.
The Romeo and Juliet soundtrack will forever be one of my favorites. Its just so emotional and classic. I hearts it.
*hugs you back*
Awww, thanks. *blushes* It always makes me happy how you're always enthusiastic about my posts; it really means a lot. :')
DeleteYou're most welcome! *sweeping bow*
Constantly blown away. IT WORKS.
Haha, don't sweat it -- it takes a LONG time to get through them the first time. And I probably skimmed a lot. :-P But after you've read them once, you feel more in control of reading them again, if that makes sense. ;D
YAAAASSSS, amen. <3
Hahaha, aww, that's a shame! I kind of low-key really love Barbie. :D But oh my gosh, YES to TSOWM! SUCH a truly good movie. It should be talked about more. :) It makes me feel like I want to go on adventures and like I have wanderlust, even though I don't really. :-P I love the part when he's skateboarding in Iceland. (Greenland?) And I love his and Cheryl's relationship. They're so sweet. :)
She seems to be!! I'm looking forward to looking into her videos more. :)
Hallelujah indeed. Seriously, it's neat how He gives us gifts even in small things like pizza, no joke. XD
YES GAHHH ISN'T IT AMAZING. I'm so glad you love it, too -- it's good to have someone to love it with. :D
Smiles :)
Basically in total agreement with this post.
ReplyDeleteNarnia YES
Psalms DOUBLE YESS
Bandstand TRIPLE YES
Evie, YAAASSSS
DeleteThanks for the shout out! I think I'm due a Lord of the Rings re-read too, it's been years, and I did love them the first time around :)
ReplyDeleteYou're most welcome! As you may have been able to tell from my rather enthusiastic comment, I was Rather A Fan of that post. ;) Ahh, yes, a LotR re-read is basically always a good idea!
DeleteThis post was fun. Agh, I need to re-read LOTR. (But hey...I just finished Ivanhoe. ;D AND IT WAS EPIC BEYOND WORDS WOW WOW WOW I LOVED IT.)
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks! Uggghhh, there are so many books I need to read!!! So I feel you. :) (AAAAAAAHHHHHJLA;DGKJHASDG WAS IT NOT AMAZING?!?!?! I'm SOOOOO thrilled you loved it. :) I MEAN THE SCENES WITH BOIS-GUILBERT AND REBECCA. NEED I SAY MORE. Also Wamba. AND JUST EVERYTHIIIIIIING. *hearts* I really need to re-read this one, too!)
DeleteEXACTLY. BOIS-GUILBERT AND REBECCA AND WAMBA AND AHHHHH IT WAS SO SO SO GOOD. Thank you for recommending it!!!!!!!
DeleteAAAAAAGGGHHH!!!!! Of course, thank you for reading it! :D
DeleteOk, I love the Red Dorothy shoes. Just happiness. Also, Balto, I forgot I watched that movie. I watched it as a teen.
ReplyDeleteAren't they sweet?! Pinterest, man. ;) Oh, you've seen it! *does happy dance* What did you think of it? I love it To Infinity and Beyond; I grew up with it. :)
DeleteI think I like my animated movies to be happy, and I'm not super big on intense movies. And I didn't grow up on it. So, I wasn't a big fan.
DeleteThat makes sense! Yeah, I'm definitely like that with some movie genres. That was actually one of the reasons I wasn't big on "Rogue One" -- I don't prefer that kind of ending to go with my Star Wars films. :-P
DeleteWonderful post!! <3 I LOVE the colorful pictures too. They add so much.
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks, Sarah! :D <3 Aren't they fun?! I've been loving Pinterest so much recently. :)
DeleteWell I know what movies and Youtubers I will be watching today. XD
ReplyDeleteHaha, you're welcome. XD (Seriously, though, you SHOOOOUUUULD.)
DeleteKatie Gregoire and Emily Wilson - BOTH YES. Such wisdom these girls have!
ReplyDelete(I haven't watched a lot of Sadie stuff; maybe I should!)
Aaaaahhh, you know them, Naomi? Aren't they great?!
Delete(I haven't either, actually, but I've liked the little bit that I've seen.)
I've been running around like crazy the past few days, but I just had to pop in to say:
ReplyDeleteI started watching "Sherlock," at your suggestion. And . . . whoa.
WHOA.
(Thank you, love <3)
OH MY GOOOOOOOOSSSHHHHHH <3
Delete[Prepare yourself for all the feelings. (And I do mean allllll the feelings.)]
I actually have been needing to take a break from Sherlock for the moment (it's a long story), but I'm glad to know you've started and liked it. :D
So I've been quietly stalking you for a while, but I'm not sure I've ever commented. This trend probably would have continued but then you said Bandstand.
ReplyDelete*pauses momentarily to fangirl*
Ahem. Anyway. I've recently just gotten into the musical and there's someone else who likes it and !!! What's your favorite song (if you can even pick)?
In other news, I love how you described Lord of the Rings. That was beautiful.
BRIANNA! *hugs you* Sooooo nice to meet you! Seriously, your comment made me sooo happy. :) (I totally get what you mean about quietly stalking blogs, though. I did that for a really long time. :D)
DeleteBUT BANDSTAND YAAAAAASSSSS. *joins you in your fangirl moment*
"And !!!" << Exactly. Eeesh, my favorite song is prrroooobably "Nobody," but I also really really love "Love Will Come and Find Me Again." (Funnily enough, actually, I was rather underwhelmed by "Nobody" the first time I heard it, but then I heard it again and loved it. :)) My second favorites are "Welcome Home" and "Who I Was". :) (And the "This Is Life" reprise. :)) What about you? Which is/are your favorite(s)?
Awwww, thank you so much! I'm so glad to find that you love LotR, too. We seem to have similar tastes, my dear! :)
Hope you're having a great day! And thanks again for the comment. <3
*grins really big*
DeleteOoooh Nobody! That song is so much fun to swing dance to (who am I kidding, the whole album is). Welcome Home (Finale) is my favorite, but Donny Novitski and Nobody have probably the most replays from me. And I've Got a Theory gets stuck in my head aaaaallll the time, and Epilogue is /hilarious/ and it's so hard to choose!
I really wish I could go see it but it's closing and I'm sitting here very, very far from New York City. :(
Aaaahh, I'd imagine Nobody would be perfect for swing dancing! Oh, yes, I should have specified the Welcome Home (Finale) version. SO GOOD, GAHH. Ooh, I can't remember much of I've Got a Theory, and I don't think I've listened to the Epilogue! I should do so. :-P Ack, I know, it IS hard!
DeleteI feel your pain, girl. :(
This was a really fun post! I'd love to see a similar one again sometime in the future :)
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks, Lissa! I appreciate the feedback; it's always helpful to know which posts are a hit. :)
Delete<3 <3 <3
HOW DID I MISS THIS?
ReplyDeleteTHE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA!! It is my favorite series ever. But, LotR is a close second.
I read Psalms sometimes, and Isaiah, too, but I haven't really read Galatians. Thanks for the reccomendations!
Ah! I need to see those movies! So many movies so little time....
Oh man. I just banned myself from watching YouTube. I have so much school work and with NaNo I am not allowing myself because every time I am going to be on there for just a minute... two hours later I realize that it is really late and I need sleep.
Fruit is the best!
There is a 2013 Romeo & Juliet!!??? What!!??
Lovely post, Olivia! I am so sorry this is so late!
