Meanwhile, in Rivendell . . .

Frodo has never been my favorite character in Lord of the Rings.  And I doubt he ever will be (what with Faramir, Arwen, Gandalf, Pippin, Eowyn, etc., he's kinda far down on the list).  But I realized something as I was reading The Fellowship of the Ring  the other day.  I don't really give Frodo the credit he's due.  Sure, he makes mistakes during the trilogy, he trusts the wrong people (er, uh, creatures), he doubts his closest friends, and he almost gives in to the Ring's power.  But what I forget so often is what he does right .  He's given a task to complete, and he does it.  Frodo never asked for guardianship of the Ring, he never wanted it, and it scared him.  But he took it anyway.  What on earth did I read, you may ask?  Well, I shall oblige you. Frodo's spirits had risen for a while after his escape, and after food and a draught of the cordial; but now a deep uneasiness, growing to dread, crept over him again. ...

Kiri Liz  is passing along the Elevensies tag to her readers, so…here I am;) So!  Questions!:) 1.  What's your favorite fairytale retelling (book only)?   That would have to be Ella Enchanted .  Both because I love that book and because I can't really recall any other retellings that I've actually finished. 2.  How many mosquito bites do you currently have?   Actually…just one, I think, and it's fading.  Win!:) 3.  What was the last film you watched?  And would you recommend it?   I'm currently watching Anne   2 with my mom, for the umpteenth time, and enjoying it immensely.  Yesterday I also watched most of The Pink Panther 2  with Steve Martin.  I'd heartily recommend Anne 2 !  As to TPP…yes, I would recommend it, since it's perfectly hilarious, BUT I certainly advise viewer discretion, as there are some innuendos and one or two plain inappropriate scenes.  Other than that, though, ...

"You know something, Amos?  The Lord poured your brains in with a teaspoon and somebody joggled His arm!" ~ Theodore  Prepare yourself to completely LOSE IT laughing if you watch this movie.  This is one of those rollicking, feel-good old Westerns we all secretly love (well, some of us more secretly than others).   Here's a synopsis of the movie taken from the back of the VHS:   "Head for cover!  Don Knotts and Tim Conway are Wild West outlaws who can't hit the broad side of a barn - but never miss when it comes to rounding up laughs!  The hilarity begins when a roving bachelor (Bill Bixby) inherits three young orphans and a wealth of problems.  When the youngsters stumble upon a huge golden nugget, they must fend off the greedy townspeople.  So the kids join forces with the bumbling outlaws to stage a robbery of the gold.  Little do they know a surly gang of sharpshooters plans to beat them to the draw!"   ...

No, in case you were misled by the quote, I am not well-read in the Lord of the Rings  books.  (I'm sorry, I'm sorry!  I plan to read them all, and I've started them before, but they're SO gigantic and can be slightly hard to follow.  But there are parts of them that I already love, and like I said, I'm going to read them eventually.  I will!)  I just happen to have read that quote, and love it.  Know why?  Because (apart from its obvious poetic power), it describes one of my favorite people.  Know who she is?  You're right!  Arwen Undomiel!  *gasp*  How did  you guess??;) Now, as to why.  Why do I love Arwen so much?  Sure, she's beautiful, but to some people, she doesn't even have a real purpose in the trilogy.  (For the record, this is my reaction when I hear that - ) Don't mess with my Lord of the Rin...
