Lately: Spring 2023

Image
Hello, my loves. ♥  I started this year with the tentative goal of posting at least twice a month, and obviously that hasn't worked out too well for me.  But, I have been managing to meet the once-a-month mark (even if I get the post in just under the wire, as is the case today 😅) , so we'll take what progress we can get. In lieu of the heavier duty posts I have in draft, I thought it would be nice to have a cozy little 'miscellaneous' post.  It's been quite a while since I've given any kind of in-depth life update or talked about what I'm into right now in terms of books, movies, music, etc.  So, why not do that today? Lately, I've been . . .  ☙ Watching - much more TV than I used to. ||  I've always been more of a film girly, and I think I still prefer film as a narrative medium, but I do find it much easier to keep up with a TV episode here and there now that I'm working and studying full time.  My evenings are pretty tight at the moment, so ...

Everything 'Star Wars' Blogathon || 'Star Wars' text posts that light my soul.

You're familiar with text posts, yes?  Those memes that pair a screencap from a beloved movie or TV series with a completely unrelated but somehow relevant Twitter or Tumblr post? Well, I love those things, and I have recently discovered several Star Wars -y ones on Pinterest.  Now, I don't want to oversell, but these might be the most beautiful items you'll see all day.  When I say "peak comedic content," I mean Peak Comedic Content. Let's do it. ⸻ ✩✩✩ ✩✩✩ ✩✩✩ ✩✩✩ ✩✩✩ ✩✩✩ ✩✩✩ ✩✩✩ ✩✩✩ ✩✩✩ ✩✩✩ ✩✩✩ ✩✩✩ ✩✩✩ ✩✩✩ ✩✩✩ ✩✩✩ ✩✩✩ ⸻ You're welcome. *sweeps a bow even though I did nothing*

Enneagram Types as Virginia Woolf Quotes

Image
[Longish preamble this time around; feel free to skim if you're getting restless.] The other day, I was looking back over some quotes I'd saved from my initial reading of Virginia Woolf's The Waves .  In a flash of inspiration which I can only attribute to my recent preoccupation with the Enneagram personality typing system, I thought how fun it would be to create a post matching some of those quotes to each of the nine types. [And then I started thinking of a whole bunch of other Enneagram-sorting post ideas, most notably an examination of various Once Upon a Time characters, but THAT shall have to wait for another day. 😛] That's what we'll be doing today: attempting to draw patterns between Aesthetically Pleasing, Vaguely Metaphysical Quotes and nine different Templates for Humanity.  [Thanks to Katie's post , the  Enneagram Institute , and the "Enneagram Explained" Instagram account for the various ways all three inspired or informed this po...

A Word on New Years, Reflections, Resolutions, & Pressure { & Read-Alongs }

Image
If you're involved in any type of online community (and, if you're reading this, we're going to assume that you are because logic), you've probably noticed a steady influx over the past couple weeks of posts sporting titles/content such as "year in review," "top ten xyz," "goals for [next year]," etc.  In fact, you may feel like you've been clobbered over the head with them. Even I've contributed with my last two posts.  And, to be clear, there's absolutely nothing wrong with having fun looking back over your last twelve months, rehashing your favorite pictures or memories or books.  Nothing at all. But have any of you ever felt oppressed rather than inspired by all the end-of-the-year hullabaloo?  Do any of you ever feel an unpleasant expectation to summarize your time or devote a certain amount of energy or excitement to celebrating the turn of the year (or, as in this case, the turn of the decade)?  Are you someo...
