We Love Sibling Stories Week | The Pevensies

Narnian greetings to you all!  In case you were unaware, my pal Rachel has been hosting her annual February blog party since Monday.  This year, it's the We Love Sibling Stories Week!  Be sure to check out Rachel's blog for all the party goodness, including games and a giveaway.

When Rachel first announced this blog party back in January, I immediately thought that I'd like to contribute something about the Pevensies, both because these kids are possibly my favorite set of siblings in all of fiction and because I don't post about The Chronicles of Narnia as often as I ought to considering how deeply I love it.  I'd originally planned on writing something more substantive, but I ended up needing to go with something easier to whip up in a pinch, so here we are!

This is just a sentimental li'l overview of each of the Pevensie siblings: a handful of reasons why I love them plus what I see as their Aesthetic™ — along with a Taylor Swift lyric for each sibling, because if you don't think that each and every single one of the Pevensies would be a raging Swiftie, then you Don't Understand™ them. 😜  Tying everything together will be a a few simply gorgeous character edits which I acquired from Pinterest but which I believe were originally created by this Tumblr user.

Let's spend a nostalgic moment in the world of the Chronicles, shall we?

- her aesthetic:  cherry blossoms, arrow flights, puzzles, moss, twilight, satin, mist, peonies, spring, rabbits, orchards, flutes, soft shawls, rainy days, target practice, philanthropy, champagne, peaches, silver

❧ Edmund, the Just

  1. Awww, so fun! I love Narnia and even though it's been such a long time since I've watched the films, I adore the books. And yes, I will always love Lucy's boldness.

Lucy and Edmund ended up being my favorites of the Pevensie children. Edmund grows so incredibly much, the most of almost any character I've ever encountered. And I love Lucy because she is, for the most part, extremely steady and reliable.

My favorite of the books is either 'Voyage of the Dawn Treader' or 'The Silver Chair.' I've read both of those so many times, but I think 'The Silver Chair' might win out because I love Puddleglum so much! He's a brilliant character, and I love that he's considered too cheerful for a Marshwiggle!

    1. Narnia is just the best. For me, it's one of those stories that I can not watch or read for a long time, but then the second I do, it's like coming home. <3

Lucy and Edmund are wonderful! Edmund's quote about traitors mending in The Horse and His Boy is so heart-tugging. :')

Ooh, great choices! The Silver Chair is such a terrific book, and Puddleglum is one of my favorite Narnia characters!! He's magnificent.

  2. The aesthetic descriptions are Actual Perfection and now I have to go reread Narnia for the umpteenth time. Which I do not at all have time to do. So... -glares- thank you.

  3. "each and every single one of the Pevensies was a raging Swiftie" you are CORRECT, SIR

Not you using "Long Live" for Edmund and getting me all up in my feelings!!!

Honestly that song fits the whole of the Pevensie family and their adventures in Narnia so well... it's perfect

    1. RIGHT I mean look me in the eye and tell me you can't see them having dance parties in their room to "Shake It Off" and "Cruel Summer". YOU CAN'T

I went back and forth and back and forth and back again on which lyric to use for Edmund (!!!) I was really feeling "your string of lights is still bright to me; who you are is not what you did" -- which is still vERY EDMUND-CODED *sniffles* -- but in the end, "Long Live" just felt right. And exactly, what you said -- I needed to use that song somewhere, because it fits all four Pevensies and their Narnian experiences to a 'T'.

  4. This is amazing. Thank you so much for posting this! I love the Pevensies and their story, and I think you’re absolutely correct.

Honestly, Edmund’s got to be my favourite (yes, even though!) because of his redemption arc, his honesty, and his nobility. Also I relate to him the most, because he’s an introvert, and also because of the fact that we all make mistakes (sometimes huge ones) but God will always forgive us.

But in the end the other siblings also are so amazing that in the end it’s really hard to choose. It’s the same thing with the books! The Voyage of the Dawn Treader or The Magician’s Nephew would probably be up at the top though.

By the way, Google isn’t letting me sign in, but I’ll try to fix it as soon as possible…

    1. Thanks so much for reading and commenting, Astrya! The Pevensies are so close to my heart. *sniffles*

      Edmund is fantastic.

Love your choices! The Magician's Nephew is one of my tip-top favorites of the Chronicles, too!

  5. Ah, I love this post! SO many Feelings.

Okay, it's funny, I initially thought that Susan's aesthetic would work better for Lucy, and then I got to Lucy's, and was like...no, that's perfect, and both of them are perfect, all of them are perfect, and GAH. So good. :D

I have always loved all the Pevensie siblings, and Lucy definitely was my favourite for a Very Long Time, but I think now I'm in a Peter-is-my-favourite phase. I definitely relate to him a lot as The Eldest...

    1. So glad you enjoyed it, Samantha!

Ahhh, I love that, haha! I definitely had some trouble choosing which elements should go in which sibling's aesthetic, because you're right, there's definitely some overlap!

So fun! Peter is a brick, a lovely lad. I don't think he receives all the attention he deserves. *nods*

Comments make my day. Seriously. I'd be so happy if you commented. :)

I've gotten really bad about replying in a timely manner, but it's always my intention to do so eventually. (Even though it doesn't always happen. ;))
