The Life According to Literature Tag

I'm trying to put together a post fangirling about my latest musical obsession love, but the video-gimimick is refusing to pull up the right videos, even though I can easily get them if I'm just searching for them on YouTube itself.  Needless to say, this is quite frustrating (because you guys need to know the splendor and glory that are "Esmeralda" and "Someday" and "Made of Stone"), but, no matter.  I'll keep trying :)

In the meantime, I saw this tag in Natalie's post, in which she linked to Hamlette's post, in which she linked to somebody else's post, and on and on the linking goes ;)  Anywho, I took an immediate fancy to this tag, and decided to fill it out!  (Obviously.)

Apparently, the original rules say to only use books you've read within the last year…some of these I've read within the past year, and some of them I'm not exactly sure.  And some of them I haven't actually read yet, but am going to soon or am in the process.

Describe yourself:  The Book Thief ~ Markus Zusak {Thankfully not in her life conditions, praise God!}

How do you feel today:  Right Ho, Jeeves ~ P.G. Wodehouse

Describe where you currently live:  In My Father's House ~ Ann Rinaldi

Hehe.  I'm proud of that answer ;D

If you could go anywhere, you would go to:  Greenwillow ~ B.J. Chute

Your favorite form of transportation:  Peter Pan ~ J.M. Barrie

Your best friend is:
Perfectly Unique ~ Annie F. Downs

You and your friends are:  Little Women ~ Louisa May Alcott  {"SCIENCE"}

What's the weather like:  Dandelion Summer ~ Lisa Wingate  {I know, I know, not summer yet, but soon!  And there are lots of dandelions, so, y'know, it works.}

Not dandelions, I know, but isn't it pretty?!

You fear: That Hideous Strength ~ C.S. Lewis

What's the best advice you have to give:  The Lord of the Rings ~ J.R.R. Tolkien  {Always a good idea ;D}

Thought for the day:  My Utmost for His Highest ~ Oswald Chambers

How you would like to die:  Ivanhoe ~ Sir Walter Scott  {Ha.  KIDDING.}

Your soul's/imagination's present condition:  Hinds' Feet on High Places ~ Hannah Hurnard {By God's grace; He's been helping me get out of a funk lately, and is drawing me back to this book, I think.}

Hope you all enjoyed that! :)  Have a lovely day, and never forget that God loves you no matter what you do <3

  1. I would love to go to Greenwillow! OH MY, would that be lovely. :-)

    I've been looking for In My Father's House -- I really want to read it. I actually just finished an Ann Rinaldi book (which I found while looking for IMFH), Come Juneteenth. It was rather amazing.

    Oooh, have you read Dandelion Summer? I tried to read it last spring, but I thought it was depressing. :-/

    This made me smile!

    1. Wouldn't it, though? ;)

      Ahhhh, I think you'll love it :) Ooh, yes, I noticed that on Goodreads! I started Come Juneteenth recently, but had to take it back to the library before I finished it. It seemed really good, though! From what I read, it's somewhat similar to IMFH, as well.

      I haven't, yet! That is, I've read snatches. My plan is to (possibly) start reading it when I come back from my last day of co-op for the year :) Yeah, it looks like it's going to be a bit...loaded, shall we say. I seem to be better able to handle some depressing things in summer, though, so here's hoping. (Says the girl who read Anna Karenina in the dead of winter...)

      Aww, yay! I'm glad :)

  2. I haven't ever heard of Dandelion Summer, but I was just introduced to Lisa Wingate's books. I read one called, Talk of the Town. It was quite hilarious!

    1. Ooh, really?! Sounds promising! I'm not quite sure what to expect from her, so I'm glad to hear someone else has read and enjoyed her work :)

  3. Lovely post, Olivia. I liked your "In My Father's House" answer, too. Quite clever, that! ;) Oooh! There are so many good books! I recognized quite a few of these titles, which is always fun!

    Oh, dear Olivia, I'm so sorry to hear you've been in a funk lately. I fall into funks far too often myself. But aren't we so blessed to have a God who constantly pulls us out again? Keep pressing forward. Your last sentence is so true. He really does love us. Far more than we can comprehend. :) (Oh, and I just have to say, I love how you constantly point yourself back to Him. Your faith is inspiring. And your thought for the day was perfect. "My Utmost for His Highest." Yes, yes, yes.)

    Have a wonderful, blissfully happy day, my friend--or happy night, or happy afternoon, or happy whatever-time-you-get-this. ;)

    1. Thanks, Miss March! Haha, thank ya ;) Isn't it the best when most of the titles are familiar? It always makes me happy when that happens :)

      *hugs you* Thank you SO much, dear friend. I so appreciate your caring and your prayers; it's really inspiring and encouraging. (Oh, my goodness! Thank you so much! Well, YOU are a big inspiration/role model to me, just so you know.)

      Aww, thanks. Your comment did make it a better evening :) And same to you, darlin'!

    2. Yes, it really is. I get super excited when I find out that someone knows the same books and movies I do. It's just loads of fun!

      *Hugs back* Aww, thank you. That is so encouraging. It's wonderful to have friends! :D

      Oh, I'm glad! :) And thank you so much, my dear!

    Hmm, I haven't heard of quite a few of these books. I should check them out...

    Haha, my sister keeps ranting about That Hideous Strength, and how much she wants to read it.

    Oooh, I love The Book Thief!! Okay, I never read the book. (hehe.) But the movie is SO good. Which do you like better?

    1. You should! I haven't read all of them myself :D I'm in the process of reading a few of them, actually…

      I'm almost done with THS! It's really good; certainly not a "comfort read", but very thought-provoking. I think my favorite in the Space Trilogy, so far, is Perelandra. Have you read the Space Trilogy? Or your sister, I suppose? :D

      Me too!!!! Ooh, goodness, that's a tough question…maybe the movie…no, maybe the book…gahh, I don't know! They're both really good, and they're both pretty similar. One thing I do love about the movie (haha, I love all of it, except for the voice they chose for Death) is that they completely excised the vast majority of the language in the book, which I thought was really impressive. The book has a TON of language, unfortunately :-/

    2. Nope, I haven't read them. I want to someday, though. :) Yup, 'someday' along with 390,999 OTHER books. ...I just made up that number. ;)

      Hmm. I never really noticed his voice that much. I just noticed HIM. (do I sound crazy?) My mom thought it was the devil at first. ;) (she also thought that Sadness in Inside Out was evil. We were trying to explain to her that it was a KIDS movie.)

      Gee, that's too bad. :[

      Haha, nope, I know exactly what you mean. I think I thought it was the devil at first, too! (Haha, she did?! That's hilarious--and awesome. A new film theory! ;D)

      Yeah, it really is :( I still recommend it, though.

    THAT ALAN GIF. :D

    Haha, Peter Pan as your transportation... hehe.

    The best advice you gave! XD Love it - ALWAYS a good idea!!

    Yes, and thank you, Olivia. I believe we can never EVER be told enough how much God loves us, or ever understand how much He DOES love us. <3

    Peter Pan...how did I not think of that? That is perfect!

    LOTR is always a good idea, indeed. ;)

  12. Very cool tag, for sure! It's so neat. I'm not sure I'd be able to do it functionally, though :P

    Oh, and I watched Belle! It was amazing. We rented it through Amazon and my sister and I watched it twice in a row. It was the perfect mix of period piece and political drama. It added a real element so many period pieces lack. And anything based on a true story has so much more power in my opinion. Thanks for introducing me to a new one :D

      You did?!?! GAAAAAHHHH, is it not amazing?!?! I absolutely LOVE IT SO MUCH. (Well, obviously. You knew that.) I agree, the fact that it's based on a true story gives it that much more oomph. Of course! I'm thrilled you got to watch it :D
